Many people do not know that I grew up in South Louisiana in Acadia and Evangeline parishes. Alana and I were married in 1991 in Baton Rouge. That year, we moved to Ruston, where I begin my law enforcement career.
Wayne and Doyce Houck welcomed us into this community. More importantly, they welcomed us into their family. I worked with Wayne and sought his advice and counsel for 30 years.
He was indeed a husband worth respecting.
A father worth imitating; and
A friend and leader worth following.
More importantly, he was a man who lived with a purpose (Philippians 3:10). And because he knew his purpose, he is now in his rightful place in heaven.
What an awesome legacy he left for all of us! A legacy of service to family, church and community.
It has been said, “you can give without loving, but you can’t love without giving.” We can take great comfort in knowing that in giving a lot of himself to help others, countless people, from
every background, including myself, were touched and loved by him, a servant of God.
After 83 years of service to God, family and community, Today, we celebrate Sheriff Wayne Houck’s legacy, a legacy that is the light of the community, the city, the state, and the world, shining before others, glorifying god in heaven as stated in Matthew 5:14-16.
To the family, may God comfort and strengthen you, and continue to carry the light and let it shine through you.
